Happy Thanks Giving everyone! Hope you all had a great day with lots of Turkey and awesome food. Mostly I know today it’s good times in the United States and most of them are ready for the Black Friday, which is tomorrow.
Even if you are in the United Kingdom, you all probably heard about all the hype about the Blacks Friday and how businesses are making big announcements about Black Friday offers and mega sales. Black Friday wasn’t something I paid much attention in the previous years, but this time I started to get a massive amount of emails from all those Internet marketers and affiliates marketers which I’m subscribed for content.
What is Black Friday?
Wikipedia explains it as below:
“Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, often regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. In recent years, most major retailers have opened extremely early and offered promotional sales to kick off the holiday shopping season, similar to Boxing Day sales in many Commonwealth Nations.
So tomorrow is big day for all the retailers and anyone who is looking forward to sell at a massive scale. Anyway so how did Black Friday got this name for it and why is that it’s a big day for all those businesses?
Black Friday is the day stock market crashed and it was actually called the Black Monday at that time and also there was this Black Sunday which was the attack of SM U-151 happened against US ships in the 1918 at the coast of New Jersey.
How Black Friday applies for Business?
When I read the online reviews I could see that Black Friday comes from an accountancy term and it mean profit. I would call it profit from the Web, if you are in the online business sector like me.
If we look at old school accountancy theories we could see that colors were used to represent profit and loss and black is used to represent profit, where as red was used to represent loss. And it was said that Black Friday was the day that retails businesses had stopped losing money and really started to make profits.

I know this may sound a little confusing to you, if you thought why did retails businesses waited till the back Friday to make a profit? I even thought about, maybe that was the day they gave huge discounts and made a lot of sales that they break-even and started making profits. Anyway that’s the story behind the big “BLACK FRIDAY”
